Akere Shakiru Olatunde

Akere Shakiru Olatunde is an accomplished insurance professional with over sixteen years of experience in underwriting, claims management, reinsurance, compliance, and risk management. He currently serves as Assistant General Manager at Sterling Assurance Nigeria Limited, providing strategic leadership and technical oversight across key business functions.

Since joining Sterling Assurance in 2009, Shakiru has held several leadership roles, including Head of Claims Department and Head of Motor Underwriting Unit. His expertise spans motor, engineering, marine, agric, and oil & gas insurance, with notable contributions to digital transformation initiatives and the establishment of the company’s Agric Insurance department. He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) and holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Lagos as well as an HND in Insurance from Lagos State Polytechnic.

Through continuous professional development, he has strengthened his expertise in enterprise risk management, engineering underwriting, and fraud prevention.
